Arkhaven helps a guardian manage what a computer can access. This page explains what we collect and why.
1. What Arkhaven stores on the computer
The Windows app keeps settings, PIN (salted & hashed), and activity records on the device. Activity is only:
- Application names (e.g. Fortnite.exe)
- Website domains (e.g. youtube.com)
- How long they were active
We do not record page content, keystrokes, passwords, photos, or messages.
2. Browser extension
The Arkhaven Activity extension reports the active tab’s domain and time spent to the local Arkhaven service on this computer (http://127.0.0.1). It does not send browsing data to Arkhaven’s servers by itself. Permissions:
- tabs — to know which tab is active and read its hostname only
- alarms / storage — to sample time and keep tiny local state
- host permission for 127.0.0.1 — to talk to the local service only
3. Guardian portal (optional)
If you create an online guardian account and pair a computer, the portal may receive:
- Your email and hashed password
- Device pairing identifiers
- Summaries of app/domain time and access requests you choose to sync
- Tamper alerts (e.g. service stopped, VPN attempt, wrong PIN)
Portal data is used to show activity, send weekly email reports, and carry out unlock / bonus / approve actions you request. You can delete your account by contacting support once accounts are live.
4. Email
We use your email for sign-in, recovery codes, and optional weekly reports. Transactional email is sent via our provider (e.g. Resend).
5. Children
Arkhaven is configured by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect contact information from children. Activity on a protected computer belongs to the household account.
6. Security
Passwords and PINs are hashed. Device sync uses signed requests. HTTPS is required in production. No filter is perfect; see the product README for limitations.
7. Contact
Questions: privacy@arkhaven.app (mailbox to be activated with your domain).
